We begin our styling process with the mom, as in about 95% of cases, it’s the mothers who book the session and bring the family together for the shoot. Here are some frequently asked questions to help you plan your outfit for our vogue-style family photoshoot.
Do you have outfits available for moms at your studio, and can I preview them?
We strongly recommend that moms bring their own outfits. While we offer wraps and have a collection of outfits primarily for maternity shoots, we don’t have a regular wardrobe for family photoshoots. However, you’re welcome to use anything from our collection for a fee of Rs. 3,000 + GST.
Can I change outfits during the photoshoot?
For our family photoshoots, we allow one outfit per look. This helps maintain a smooth flow during the session and ensures we capture the best moments without interruptions. Please choose an outfit you’re comfortable and confident in, as it will be featured throughout the shoot. If you have multiple looks, you will of course change outfits between the looks.
What kind of footwear, jewellery, or accessories should moms bring for the family photoshoot?
Simple and elegant accessories are ideal for family photoshoots. When it comes to footwear, neutral-toned shoes or opting to go barefoot can help maintain a natural look.
For jewellery, we recommend subtle pieces that won’t draw too much attention away from the family, allowing the overall theme to remain timeless and harmonious. However if your outfit and overall look allow, you can go for a statement piece as well.
It’s all about how it comes together.
Can we coordinate outfits as a family for a cohesive look, and do you provide styling advice?
Absolutely! We encourage coordinating outfits for a cohesive family appearance. We will offer styling advice during your consultation to ensure everyone’s attire complements each other, resulting in beautifully balanced and harmonious photographs. A well-coordinated wardrobe enhances the overall aesthetic and mood of your photos.
What colors, patterns, or outfits should we avoid?
It’s best to steer clear of bright colors, busy patterns, or large logos, as they can distract from the main focus of the photos. Opt for soft, neutral tones and classic styles to create timeless images that highlight your family’s natural connection and beauty.
Are there specific fabrics or materials that photograph well?
Yes, fabrics like silk, chiffon, lace, and cotton tend to photograph beautifully. They add texture and movement to your images. Try to avoid materials that wrinkle easily or are overly shiny, as they can reflect light in unflattering ways.
How should I prepare my outfit before the shoot?
Ensure that your clothing is clean and wrinkle-free. It’s a good idea to try on your outfit beforehand to check for fit and comfort. Remove any tags or labels that might be visible.
For family photoshoots, we expect the mother to arrive at the studio with hair and makeup already done. We recommend working with your existing hair and makeup artist to achieve your desired look for the shoot day.
Please Note:
•Hair and makeup services are not included in our packages and are not offered as a service.
•We do not allow hair and makeup to be done at our studio due to business policies and insurance requirements.
Are hair & makeup services available at your studio?
Unfortunately, we do not provide hair and makeup services at our studio. We ask that you arrive ready for your session. If you prefer a more natural look, that works beautifully for family photography. You don’t need to overdo it—just come as comfortable as you feel.
Can my hair and makeup artist come to the studio for preparations?
No, we do not allow hair and makeup artists to come to the studio for preparations. This is due to our business policies and insurance requirements. We recommend arriving with your hair and makeup done to ensure the session runs smoothly and remains focused on capturing beautiful moments with your family.
Can you suggest specific hair and makeup artists for the shoot?
We don’t provide specific recommendations for hair and makeup artists. However, we suggest working with someone you’ve used before and are comfortable with, as this helps ensure you’re satisfied with the results.
Is it necessary for me to get my hair and makeup done if I am part of the photoshoot?
It’s not absolutely necessary. We recommend doing whatever helps you feel more comfortable and confident. These images will be cherished for years, so even a light touch of makeup can help you feel more at ease in front of the camera. What matters most is that you feel good about how you look, so choose a level of preparation that works for you.
What kind of makeup do you recommend?
We recommend a soft, natural look. A minimal approach to makeup enhances your features without overshadowing the overall mood of the session. A natural look also ensures that the focus remains on your connection with your family, capturing timeless, beautiful images.
How should I style my hair to complement the overall look of the photoshoot?
Your hairstyle should reflect your personal comfort and style. Whether you prefer your hair down, loosely tied, or gently styled, the key is feeling like yourself. A simple style works best, ensuring you feel both confident and relaxed throughout the session. The goal is to keep everything as natural as possible to match the serene, intimate atmosphere of family photography.
What should I avoid when doing my hair and makeup for the session?
Avoid heavy or dramatic makeup, shimmery products, trying new styles, and anything that makes you uncomfortable.
Can I make adjustments to my hair and makeup during the session?
Yes, you can make adjustments if needed. We aim to make the session as comfortable as possible, so you’ll have the opportunity to refresh your look throughout the shoot as needed.
