White and ivory maternity gowns
White gowns, ivory silk, and the white shirt that goes with blue jeans. Pale outfits on pale backdrops, and a few against dark ones, the newest first.
Some of the outfits in these photographs belong to our clients and may not be available to hire. We cannot tell at a glance which ones, so if you see something you love, send us a screenshot on WhatsApp and we will tell you whether it is in the studio wardrobe.
About white and ivory
Light on light. Most of these were made against the sheer white curtains or a white backdrop. The result is airy and bright, with the gown nearly merging with the light. It is the gentlest look in the gallery.
Against dark, the opposite. A white or ivory silk against slate blue-grey or dark grey reads like a statue: bare shoulders, the fabric catching the light, and nothing else in the frame. It is the same colour as the airy ones and has nothing in common with them.
What is in it. Fitted ivory jersey off the shoulder, tulle, lace, silk drapes, and the white shirts and tops from the casual sessions. About half the frames show a bare bump, because the casual look is built on one.
Tone on tone. In several frames both of you are in white or ivory, which is a quiet way to make a couple look like a pair.
What he wears. Beside a white gown, the husband appears in a white shirt, a pale blue shirt or a pale pink one, always with light trousers or jeans. Pale on pale keeps the frame calm; a blue shirt adds one quiet cool note.
Can white be too stark?
Ivory or cream is softer than a pure white, and we try both on you at the consultation.
Can my husband wear white too?
Yes. Several frames here are tone on tone. ---
