Maternity photoshoot ideas from our Gurgaon studio
Every photograph here was made in our Gurgaon studio, by Anega, for a mother who lives somewhere in Delhi NCR. Scroll through a few highlights, or choose a way in: a look, who is with you, a colour, a backdrop, or black and white.

Start from the gown
Most mothers start with a colour they already know they love. Tap one to see every gown in it.
How the studio looks
Our frequently used backdrops, from white and sheer curtains to slate, olive and deep red. One page shows them all.
Timeless, in four moods
Some of the outfits in these photographs belong to our clients and may not be available to hire. We cannot tell at a glance which ones, so if you see something you love, send us a screenshot on WhatsApp and we will tell you whether it is in the studio wardrobe.
How a maternity session works here
The studio. We are in Gurgaon. Search for Anega Bawa on Google Maps and the studio comes up, and we send you the pin again before your session. Most families drive in from across Delhi NCR, so plan for traffic and aim to arrive about twenty minutes early, so the start is unhurried. The studio runs Monday to Saturday.
The best weeks. Most mothers shoot between 32 and 35 weeks. The bump is full and round, you still have the energy for a two or three hour session, and every silhouette in this gallery photographs well. Carrying twins moves that window earlier, to about 29 or 30 weeks. If you are past 36 weeks, tell us how you are feeling and we will plan a shorter session around it.
How long it takes. One dress is 35 to 45 minutes. Two dresses is about two hours, three is about three, with outfit changes and rests whenever you need them. A dress means one outfit against one backdrop, which is why the looks and backdrops on this page are worth choosing before you come.
What to wear. Bring your own outfits, or choose from the studio wardrobe, which holds gowns, wraps, silks and drapes in a range of colours and sizes. You try them on during the consultation. Solid colours photograph better than prints, and anything with tight elastic at the waist leaves marks, so avoid it on the day.
Hair and make-up. Please arrive ready. Hair and make-up are not done at the studio, and a professional artist makes a visible difference in these photographs. Polished but natural reads best under studio light: skin that looks like skin, defined eyes, soft hair.
Afterwards. Within ten days you receive a selection gallery of thirty or more preview images per dress. You send us your choices and the final retouched photographs arrive in high resolution within four weeks. Retouching is done with restraint: skin tone evened, stray hairs tidied, the background cleaned, shape refined where a pose or fabric has not been kind. You, at your best, not someone else.
How early should I book?
Four to eight weeks before you would like to be photographed. That leaves time for the consultation, where we plan outfits and styling, and for a date in your preferred week. The studio is busy through the year, so the earlier you write, the more choice you have in the week that suits you.
I have never been photographed like this. Will I know what to do?
No, and you do not need to. Anega leads every pose, from where to put your hands to how to stand. Most mothers say they were nervous for the first five minutes and forgot about it after that.
Can I show you a photograph I saw on Instagram?
Send it over. It helps us understand what you have in mind, and if we have something similar in the studio we will happily offer it. Most of what people send us is already somewhere in this gallery. ---
